Presidential Elections

Making a Class Presentation
American political parties went through extreme changes in the 1840s and 1850s. Using the Internet or the library, find the election returns of the presidential elections from 1848 to 1860.

Use presentation software to teach your class about U.S. presidential elections. Here are some suggestions.

  • · Use pie charts to show the percentage of votes that went to each party in each election
  • · Use bar graphs to show the growth in total popular vote (nationwide) for each party for each election.
