Space - Astronomy Project Description

Project requirements

  • Title Slide
  • Background information - Answer Who? What? Where? When? Why?
  • Discuss/describe important personalities - astronauts, discoverers, gods, goddesses, scientists, etc.
  • Give details of mission, planet, important myths, or biography
  • Describe any important events leading up to a mission or discovery
  • Timeline of relevant dates and events associated with topic--mission, personality, myth, or planet
  • Add graphics and other multimedia as appropriate
  • Works Cited page of research sources in MLA format
  • Microsoft Word document of research material, including rewritten material copied to the PowerPoint.

Review of possible topics or research

  • A mission of the American, Russian, or another country’s space program
  • The development of space flight (including the origins of the airplane)
  • A planet or other astronomical body or phenomena
  • Astronomy centered on constellations
  • Mythology of constellations
  • Astronomy of ancient cultures
  • Famous astronomers, ancient and modern
  • Development of the study of space
  • Development of science fiction literature, works, and authors
  • Science fiction topics that have become fact

*Be sure to narrow your topic appropriately to one mission, element, or area of study. Avoid researching subjects that may be too general, like the Space Program or the Planets--keep the topic manageable.
